The cable for rolling stock is single-core with insulation made of thermoplastic elastomer and a frost-resistant polyvinyl chloride outer sheath.
The abbreviation PPSRVM stands for:

• PPS – cable for rolling stock;
• R - RTI-1 (type of rubber used in production);
• VM - refers to a material sheath that is oil- and cold-resistant.

CONSTRUCTION

1. Conductor – copper, multi-strand, class 5 flexibility according to DSTU EN 60228.
2. Insulation – made of thermoplastic elastomer.
3. Separator layer – made of rubberized fabric or synthetic tape. The cable may be manufactured without a separator layer, provided the outer sheath can be separated without damaging the insulation.
4. Outer sheath – made of frost-resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Operating temperature of the surrounding environment:

• for cables in version U from -50°C to +60°C;
• for cables in other versions from -10°C to +60°C.

The cables are resistant to relative humidity at +40°C – 98%.
The cables are resistant to oils and diesel fuel.
The cables are resistant to vertical oscillations, vibrations, shocks, and bends. Cables designed for connection to mobile current collectors are resistant to bends with simultaneous twisting.
During operation, the cables should not be exposed to direct sunlight. The installation of cables should be carried out at a temperature not lower than -15°C.
Bending radius of the cables:

• during installation, no less than 3 times the outer diameter of the cable;
  
• during operation, no less than 5 times the outer diameter of the cable.

It is permissible to install with disconnection and connection when no impacts are made to the current collectors with a smooth bend radius equal to five times the diameter of the cable at a temperature of -50°C.
Test AC voltage frequency 50 Hz for 15 minutes after 24 hours of immersion in water for cables with a nominal voltage of 4000 V - 16000 V.
The permissible continuous operating temperature of the conductor at +65°C.
Cables can be operated at a conductor temperature of up to 75°C.
The construction length of the cable – no less than 100 m.
The warranty period of operation – 2 years from the commissioning date. The service life of the cables: those designed for connection to mobile current collectors – no less than 6 years, other cables – 12 years.

APPLICATION

The cables are designed for internal and external connections in diesel locomotives as components (for retrofitting designed rolling stock units and repairs), for voltages of 660 V, 1500 V, 3000 V, 4000 V alternating current with a frequency of up to 400 Hz or 1000 V, 2500 V, 4500 V, 6000 V direct current, for connection to mobile current collectors, for installation under limited movements, and for fixed installation with exposure to oils and diesel fuel.
